California Porn Tax

California is the undisputed capital of porn, generating millions in revenue for California and employing thousands of its citizens. So why is California State Assemblyman Charles Calderon proposing a 25% tax on porn and adult entertainment just for California residents?

Assemblyman Calderon's answer to the State's substantial budget shortfall is to impose yet another tax (AB 2914) on its already overly taxed citizens. Assemblyman Calderon, the Democratic chairman of the chamber's committee on revenues and taxation, says that the additional tax revenue from the adult entertainment activity would also help defray social costs associated with it, including crime, drug abuse, and sexually transmitted diseases.

This proposed bill would tax production, distribution, retail sales, internet downloads, and performances of adult entertainment. By the time you purchase your adult product it could have been taxed five times according to some industry spokespersons.

This tax seems to be a bit shortsighted. Although this tax could help California in the short term, a California-only porn tax could possibly drive the adult entertainment industry out of California to other states taking with it revenue and thousands of jobs that the already cash strapped state cannot afford to lose.

Caring For Your WS Toys & Furniture

One of the questions we are asked when we are at fairs and events selling our Bloodline Canes and Paddles is about caring for handcrafted wood toys. Anyone reading this with a substantial toy bag has also made a substantial investment in that substantial toy bag. So proper care and handling of all your toys is very important even after a hard night of play to ensure that those toys are around for many years of enjoyment.

Although all of our toys and equipment are strong, well made, and finely finished, they are not indestructible and can be damage if not handled and cared for properly. Play hard and often, but after playing we recommend that you treat these items as you would fine furniture. They are only going to be as nice as you treat them. Often a wipe down with a soft cloth is enough, but we also recommend using a gentle wood furniture polish on a regular basis. You should never use a harsh abrasive, water, or a cleaner not intended for wood. Its pretty hard to break or ruin the multi-layered finish on our toys and equipment, but it can happen if good care is not taken.
